Shining a light on the valuable impacts of council investment in the arts throughout New Zealand.
This guide, for members of local government, showcases how art, culture and creativity provide incredible value to New Zealand communities.
Along with the client, we thought this was an opportunity to create a hand-made, artistic style for the supporting illustrations. We developed a colourful, painterly and energetic style with organic, hand-drawn illustrations.
Each of the illustrations was carefully considered to best represent the content as well as champion different creative disciplines. From Northland to Otago, many regions around New Zealand are represented, with recognisable festivals and scenes around Aotearoa, such as the New Plymouth Festival of Lights on the cover, or the Te Ara Pekapeka Bridge in Hamilton.
To support CNZ’s public advocacy work we also provided a Powerpoint presentation and standalone assets for use in social media.
We enjoyed collaborating with the Gusto team on this refreshed resource. We wanted something easy to read, visually striking, and with a hand-drawn feel. Importantly, it needed to evoke a wide range of creative expressions and experiences from across Aotearoa – not an easy task! Gusto rose to the challenge, and we appreciate the skill and care they brought to the project.
