Breadth of Blue Economy infographic

Land Information New Zealand asked us to create an infographic demonstrating their role behind the breadth of data within NZ’s marine economy. It required a visually unique NZ flavour that was flexible enough to be shown as an animation in presentations, at events, as well as in printed collateral. The infographic was showcased by LINZ at the 2019 Marine Science Society Conference.

We created a visual story that would work as an animation, as well as a static image. The key message we illustrated showed the range of marine data LINZ had available, but also how they work compatibly with the environment. We communicated this by focusing on the diversity of the marine economy and then having the data be a secondary part of the environment. This was shown in the animation with infographics emerging over top of different areas of the environment and then disappearing again. This was translated to a static version by simply using this latter state. Both versions served the purpose of showing LINZ’s breadth of data and their role within the marine economy.
