The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) asked us to create a scroll-through, graphic novel style animation, to depict the interactions between housing, school/work and whānau wellbeing, and the subsequent health outcomes, through the experiences of a 10 year-old boy, Tom and his whānau.
Continuing on the success of the #MakeItTheNorm campaign in 2017, this time RACP wanted to focus on specific references to the values of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and humanity.
The graphic novel style captures the realities of many Aotearoa NZ whānau, and makes people think about what sort of country we aspire to be. The compelling illustrated story seeks to shift people’s thinking beyond the three-year election cycle and focus on actions to make long-term, sustainable change.
The RACP’s advocacy campaign #MakeItTheNorm is drawn from Prime Minister Norman Kirk’s famous line “people don’t want much, just somewhere to live, someone to love, something to do and something to hope for.”
